Javed Akhtar to host TV show

Javed Akhtar was last seen on the small screen as a judge on Indian Idol Season 4. The lyricist-scriptwriter par excellence will now be seen with a show revolving around yesteryears' popular names titled 'Classic Legends'. The show in the first season will feature Bollywood's great artists like RD Burman, Mehboob Khan, Guru Dutt, Madhubala, Sahir Ludhianvi, Ashok Kumar and Raj Kapoor. The show is said to be a 13 episode feature. A few episodes of the show have already been shot with Javed and will soon be aired.

Akshay teams up with Ashvini Yardi to launch Grazing Goat Productions

Akshay Kumar has joined hands with Ashvini Yardi, Head of Programming for Colors, to start a new production house Grazing Goat Pictures Pvt Ltd. Ashvini has already submitted her resignation to the channel and will move out from the channel by end of this month. Akshay and Ashvini have already bought an office space in Juhu which will be ready to be occupied by the end of this year. Akshay's wife Twinkle is working on the interiors of the office. Ashvini has been a part of the TV industry for almost 20 years and had earlier worked with Zee TV for over 12 years. Ashvini and Akshay came up with the idea for the production house during the shoot of Khatron Ke Khiladi, which aired on Colors. Their production house will produce Hindi films to begin with and then venture into regional cinema. The focus is on making quality creative films - both full length and short. The film based on reality TV show Bigg Boss will be the first film of the production house. Ashvini and Akshay are also on a lookout for talented writers and directors. This will be Akshay's second production banner. He already has his own production house Hari Om Entertainment, which he launched two years ago.

Anil Kapoor suddenly takes off to US for charity event

Where on earth did Anil Kapoor suddenly disappear to? This week there was much speculation about Anil's acutely-conspicuous absence in Mumbai, leaving at least two important engagements in Mumbai cancelled and the hosts flabbergasted by the otherwise-particular commitment-conscious actor. According to sources, "This week Anil was supposed to be in Mumbai for two very important occasions. Super-cop Isaque Bhagwan (whom Anil will portray in Sanjay Gupta's Shootout At Wadala) had personally gone to Anil's home to invite the star for his son's wedding on Nov 25. Anil had assured him he would be there. Then there is Anil's dear friend David Dhawan whose son Rohit keenly wanted Anil to be at the special screening of Desi Boyz on Thursday. Anil had categorically assured his presence at both the events. Both Isaque and David received calls from Anil with profuse apologies." Says a very close friend of Anil, "All he told us was that he had to leave for the US suddenly. He didn't tell any of us why. I'm presuming it is to fetch Tom Cruise for the Mission Impossible 4 premiere in Mumbai." When I finally tracked down Anil in the US, he said, "Arrey nahin, no mystery at all. I had to leave suddenly because I was called for a charity event in LA for Pratham, the child literacy organization that I'm closely associated with. I thought that was more important than anything else. I am sure David and Isaque would understand. In fact I've assured Isaque I will visit his home to bless the couple the minute I land in Mumbai. As for David, he's a dear friend. I've had great fun working with him. I am really eager to see his son's Desi Boyz."
