Director Anand Kumar, who is synonymous with the unreleased Zilla Ghaziabad (a hard hitting flick starring Vivek Oberoi and others), has now announced his next flick called Meerut Junction, a film that's based on the rail mafia. The film's script is written by Vinay Sharma, who also happens to be the writer of Zilla Ghaziabad. Meerut Junction will be produced by Saurabh Varma and Tripur Singh, two of the ex-corporate head honchos, who are now venturing into film production. Meerut Junction will be a rustic love story with the backdrop of rail mafia in the country and that the film has been inspired by real life incidents. Speaking about the film, Tripur Singh said, "Meerut Junction is a quirky love story with a very unique storyline, and is a subject which will attract all from 15 to 80 years of age group." Adding to that, Saurabh Varma said, "Our vision was very clear. We wanted a film that would be real with a gripping story and entertainer too. The script is so unique that it will attract the classes and masses alike." The preproduction for the film is on and is slated to go on floor in March 2012.

Salman and Vivek in race for sequel
It's all about getting the sequel to the theatres first. Salman Khan and Vivek Oberoi are both vying to get the sequels to their respective children's flick in place. Fast. We don't know if Vivek Oberoi was inspired by Salman Khan to produce a children's film. But the two stars who love to hate one another, are now locked in a battle to the finishing-line with their two prized products for children. Vikas Bahl's Chillar Party which was co-produced by Salman and Mangesh Hadawale's Dekh Indian Circus which was co-produced by Vivek Oberoi are locked in a strange and unexpected fight to the finish. Though Chillar Party was completed and released much before Dekh Indian Circus, the two films have been competing for the same eyeballs in different parts of the world. The climactic flourish for both the films was at the just-concluded International Children's Film Festival in Hyderabad where both Salman and Vivek's films won top awards. Both the stars were expected to make an appearance at the Festival, but stayed away apparently presuming the other would be present. Says a reliable source, "It's become a matter of tremendous pride and prejudice to both stars. Both Salman and Vivek love kids and are extremely happy with the film that they've produced and the way it has progressed at film festivals." And now both the films are gearing for sequels, apparently both determined to make it into theatres first. According to a source, Salman and Vivek have both urged their directors to do a sequel A.S.A.P in order to get into theatres first. Chillar Party director Vikas Bahl confirms he's scripting the sequel to Chillar Party 2. "Salman is on board for the sequel. He will be helping us with the sequel in every way possible." Ditto Vivek who has informed the director of Dekh Indian Circus that the sequel should be done as fast as possible. Confirms the soft spoken simple director Mangesh Hadawale, "Yes, I am doing a sequel to Dekh Indian Circus. It's called Ranveer. And yes, Vivek is very much on board."

The Dirty Picture banned in Pakistan
Earlier this year, it was Imran Khan's Delhi Belly that was banned in Pakistan and now, it's the soon-to-be-released Vidya Balan, Tusshar Kapoor, Naseruddin Shah and Emraan Hashmi starrer The Dirty Picture that has been banned by the Pakistani censor board. Apparently, after acquiring the clearance by the Indian Central Board of Film Certification, the film was submitted to the Censor Board of Pakistan for censorship. However, the application was rejected as the film was deemed unsuitable for theatrical release in Pakistan. The reason for this was cited that the Board felt The Dirty Picture was inappropriate for viewership in Pakistan due to its bold and controversial content.

'Prometheus' Trailer Leak 'Heartbreakingly Unfair'
'When that material is ready and it comes out, you should go see it in 3-D,' Fox Filmed Entertainment CEO Tom Rothman tells MTV News.By Kevin P. Sullivan, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Tom Rothman, CEO of Fox Filmed Entertainment, does not like leaks. He especially doesn't like leaks when they come from one of Fox's most anticipated and fiercely guarded films, Ridley Scott's "Prometheus."
A bootlegged, shaky and watermarked version of the first trailer for "Prometheus" showed up online Sunday, and even though the unauthorized debut didn't last long before 20th Century Fox had the video pulled, an untold number of eager fans caught it and spilled on the details.
On the red carpet of the Gotham Independent Film Awards, Rothman spoke with MTV News' Josh Horowitz about his disappointment with the leaked trailer. "I heard some of it leaked, which wasn't so good," he said.
For such a drawn-out buildup, the release of the bootleg trailer marked a point of anticlimax. To Rothman, the leak was nothing short of a severe injustice. "That's not fair. It's heartbreakingly unfair, because ... the quality of the visuals is as spectacularly beautiful, shot in 3-D compositionally the way only a master could do it," Rothman said. "For some early, early, early, early half-baked, half-assed test to leak, it's so unfair."
The Fox exec did, however, guarantee that the film will make a splash once it sees a proper release. "I will promise you this: When that material is ready and it comes out, you should go see it in 3-D on a screen. It will deliver."
Even though the secrets of the trailer are out, that still leaves many questions to be answered, namely where "Prometheus" fits in the "Alien" universe. While certainly connected, claims that "Prometheus" acts as a prequel have been shot down by almost everyone involved with the project.
Rothman made the same denial, even going so far as to place his hand over his heart. When pressed to explain how "Prometheus" could share continuity with "Alien" and take place before the events of that film but still not qualify as a prequel, Rothman offered up his explanation.
"I suppose if you want to definitionally be that literal, but it does it a great disservice. I will tell you, here's the way to think about it. If you looked at the whole movie, 95 percent of it is entirely unto itself," Rothman said. "Ridley said it right: If you're a fan and you look closely, you'll spot strands of DNA."
For him, "Prometheus" ends up being about so much more than continuity. "I'll tell you the great thing: It's way bigger than that. The ideas are way bigger, way more original and — it's a scary word — way more profound."
Check out everything we've got on "Prometheus."

Divyendu Sharma gets Rakesh Bedi's role in Chashme Baddoor remake
The casting of David Dhawan's version of Sai Paranjpye's 1981 cult comedy Chashme Baddoor just got even more interesting. After signing Pakistani pop star Ali Zafar for Farouq Shaikh's part, and Tamil star Siddharth for Ravi Baswani's part, David has now signed the relatively-unknown Divyendu Sharma to play the pivotal third protagonist . Divyendu who shot to a certain kind of unexpected fame with his performance as the love-smothered cynical and abusive character Liquid in Luv Sinha's sleeper hit Pyaar Ka Punchnaama, bagged the role in a most bizarre manner. After casting Ali and Siddharth, David couldn't seem to find the right face and personality to play Omi, the part Rakesh Bedi played with laconic humour in Paranjpye's film. Then one day David saw Divyendu in an ad where he was selling satellite channels with his two room-mates. David immediately saw his Omi in Divyendu who after his punch-filled role in Pyaar Ka Punchnaama was waiting for the Next Big Role. Says Divyendu, "Yes, I am doing David Dhawan's Chashme Baddoor. I am a big fan of Sai Paranjpye's films and I've seen her Chashme Baddoor a number of times. This is just the break I wanted after Pyaar Ka Punchnaama." Says David, "I wanted someone spontaneous, funny and intelligent to play Rakesh Bedi's part. You see, with Rishi Kapoor and Anupam Kher in the cast and with Ali and Siddharth playing the two heroes, the third actor has to sparkle on screen. I saw that spark in Divyendu. Very bright actor. I am having a ball directing him and the rest." Divyendu will now spend some time with Rakesh Bedi to get to know more about the character, although he intends to play it in his own way.

Diverse genres in 2012
Akshay Kumar had just three releases this year [PATIALA HOUSE in January, THANK YOU in April, DESI BOYZ in November], but the busy actor will have as many as five releases in 2012, starting with HOUSEFULL-2 in April, ROWDY RATHORE in June, JOKER in August, KHILADI 786 in Diwali and ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI-2 [its release date is not finalized yet]. Of course, it's not wise to have so many releases in a single year, but Akshay defends his decision. Says the charismatic actor, "A couple of films were slated for release this year, but got shifted to next year. Besides, I like to complete a film and move over to the next project pronto. I agree, it's not right to have a new film releasing every two/three months, but I don't like to delay my films or keep them on hold if the shooting is complete. I can't play such ruthless games for the sake of my career." But the best part is that each of those belongs to diverse genres. Did Akshay plan it that way? Akshay states with utmost honesty, "I've never planned these things. Nor do I have a strategy that I need to work in diverse genres. These films were offered to me, I took them up, it's just a coincidence that each of those belong to varied genres."

Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu trailer gets 'A' certification; KJo reworking on new one
The Karan Johar produced Shakun Batra directed film Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu starring Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor has run into trouble. It is learnt that the film which is ready with its first trailer ran into trouble with the censor board objecting to the use of the word 'sex' in it. The censor board has given the trailer an 'A' certificate. The scene in question is when a person asks Kareena and Imran whether they have had sex, to which they respond 'yes' and 'no' respectively. Apparently, with the new dikat of not allowing beeping out of words, the makers are working on creating a new trailer sans the word 'sex' for 'U' certification of the trailer. However, till the new trailer is ready, the current one will be played along with The Dirty Picture that releases on December 2.
